A Snowy Peak into THE ARCTIC HOME Campaign: Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola just recently launched their new holiday cause marketing campaign and if you're looking down the grocery store isles for the classic bold red and white logo cans and bottles- they won't be there.

Coca-Cola has teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and transformed their cans and bottles to symbolize the white snow-covered wonderland of the polar bear, and to raise awareness and funds to help make a safer home for the polar bears of the Arctic, which are already listed as a threatened species in the Endangered Species Act with the U.S. Department of the Interior. Scientists with Polar Bear International estimate that there are only 20,000-25,000 left in the world due to rapid loss in sea ice, pollution, poaching, and industrial growth. Think this is due to Global Warming? Whatever your theory may be, WWF has already begun preparations to save the polar bears and other Arctic animals who thrive in cold, icy, snow environments by a having a backup of about 500,000 square miles of ice (twice the size of Texas) high in the Arctic archipelago of Canada and Greenland that will most likely not melt as fast, and last longer as an environment. This dramatic effort to plan for future events that will devastate the Arctic animal community does not come cheap. Over the next 5 years, it will cost $10 million.

This is where Coca-Cola has stepped up to the plate and announced they will pledge $2 million and match up to $1 million of their consumer donations made through their Arctic Home website until March 15, 2012.
1. Buy any dedicated white designed can/bottle of Coke
2. Find the product code located under the product cap
3. Go to Coca-Cola's Arctic Home website and donate OR donate from your mobile phone by texting the product code to 357357
4. In return for every $1 you donate, Coca-Cola will give YOU a piece of its virtual Arctic home to track real polar bears!

Everyone has seen at least once the classic Coca-Cola holiday commercials with the momma and cub polar bears drinking Coke by a iced fish pond, or sliding down a snowy hill-top...but now the company has taken their efforts to a new level to inform the public about how important it is to save our bears from disappearing from Earth forever. Their dedicated website COCA-COLA ARCTIC HOME brings a virtual 3D Arctic snow experience to your computer and a chance to walk in the polar bear's footsteps - currently as I am writing this post for you, the night sky is black with 1 Degree Fahrenheit with winds up to 22 miles per hour with snow blowing in the wind!

It has been less than 3 months since the new design of Coke products were launched, but donations have been pouring in support these efforts to save the polar bear's home. Already, $23,826 has been raised, but so much more is needed to help make these efforts continue and become a reality! So get out there and buy some Coke! Don't drink any Coke products? ~ I'm right there with you, carbonation gets to me ~ but you can still help by spreading the word to all your friends and family or even offer to donate for them.

  1. I'm not a soda drinker, but the design of the can and the intention of this campaign is compelling enough for me to pick some up for a party over the holidays :).

  2. I'm right there with you on drinking sodas, but love what Coca-Cola is doing! If you do have a holiday party and feature some Cokes and inform your guests about what they can do to help, take some photos and I'll showcase your efforts on my blog as a special feature! Feel free to contact me. ~Tiffany
